High 5 Video

Isabel has learned to give high 5s. Click on the image to see the video.

New shoes

Every few months Oswaldo and I go the Skechers outlet in the Mission after brunch at Foreign Cinema and buy several pairs of shoes on sale for "buy 1 get the 2nd half off." We were short a pair so we decided to get Isabel her first Skechers. They didn't quite have her size, but she'll grow into them.

Heat wave!

It was near 100 degrees in San Francisco today. Crazy. We had to turn the heat off, and we even cracked a window or two in the house (where it got up to 82 degrees). We played in the shade and broke out the sunscreen, little "pool", and swim diapers from Peru (swim diapers were a little tight around the legs ;). I struggled to find non-footed pajamas for Izzy to sleep in. More heat tomorrow.

Passover trip to New York

We spent almost two weeks in New York and New Jersey for Passover. It was like an Izzy road show. We visited Grandma & Grandpa, had Seder at the Webber's and the Lefkowitz's, and visited Robin and Grandpa in their offices in New York.

Cause and effect

Isabel is really getting to know her toys. View the video to see her reaction.

Picking daisies

It was daisy-picking weather in San Francisco today. Sunny and in a high of 78 degrees in our backyard. Izzy enjoyed being barefoot in the grass and picking daisies for the first time.

Standing

Isabel can now stand unassisted (although I did cheat by propping her up to her table). She's pretty close to pulling herself up on her crib bars. Although this pic shows her standing on her own, you can see a nervous mom off stage.

The reluctant pedicure

No shoes or socks allowed at Gymboree. So, it's pedi time on Saturday morning. Izzy didn't quite agree. See these pics leading up to the reluctant pedi.

Bunnies!

I've never celebrated Easter before, but I couldn't resist the pink dress and lots of bunnies. Check out all of the bunny photos.

Kiss me, I'm (0.78125 percent) Irish!

Isabel's got a little Irish in her (she's 1/128th Irish to be precise, which is 0.78125%). She's definitely the most Irish looking Sandoval in the clan (actually, the Irish comes from the Zavala side of the family).

I was tempted to give her all green foods today (peas, green beans, broccoli, zucchini), but I've seen her eat her greens, and it's not pretty.

If you like this photo of Isabel, check out more St. Patrick's day pics at her eighth month album.

Peek-a-boo!

We all went to Gymboree for the first time last week. Izzy got a bit cranky towards the end (hey, she was hungry), but she loved playing peek-a-boo and was fascinated by the bubbles blown in the air.

Speaking of bubbles, here's something you wouldn't think to do with a bunch of infants...roll out a big slab of bubble wrap and just let the babies loose on it. Lord, it was like baby crack. They were fighting over it to feel the texture and hear the bubbles pop. I mean, I never thought I'd let my baby play with a piece of plastic wrap, but it sure did keep her busy for a while. Next week we'll see if they let them play with batteries.

Back in San Francisco

It's been a couple of weeks since we returned to San Francisco, and we've been very lucky with the weather. We bought Isabel a swing which she used for the first time this week. Other fun photos in the eight month photo album.

The "I want my doll" series

As Isabel is learning to crawl, we've been putting things she likes a few inches out of her reach so she has to go mobile to get them. Sometimes she slithers, sometimes she rolls, and other times she tacks back and forth at 20 degree angles. In this series of photos she's reaching for her doll, and when she gets there, she does what she does with everything these days...puts it in her mouth. The quality of the photos isn't that great, but it tells a good story.

Give me my squash - now!

We've been introducing all sorts of new foods to Isabel over the past month. With the dearth of jarred baby food in Peru, we've been making some of our own including "zapallo" - yellow squash. Isabel really likes the zapallo, as you can see from this photo where she's demanding more - now! She's sort of like her mommy that way...a little cranky when she's hungry.
